Five thousand, eight hundred and seventy-three miles

Miles examines the comparison of inhabitants who live in two diverse cultures, the United Kingdom and Thailand. The title of the project is the distance between London and Bangkok. The documentary work composed in Thailand was shot over three months, when the artist worked in the country, gathering an extensive variation of street photography and portrait images of individuals in their natural setting. The mirrored images, taken in the United Kingdom, were shot in a parallel method to shadow the previous subject’s behaviours, creating a set of paired images.

With a passion for uncovering the similarities and differences between the diverse lifestyles, the artist has presented that we aren’t all that different. Conversely, the project explores the concept of Social Theory and the verification that environmental and geographical locations have unconsciously altered human behaviour, expanding on how our societies are so unique. Inspiration comes from the desire to present to the audience, above all, that we are primarily in the simplest of facades, human.
